The short answer
You should. The ad account, pixel, audiences, and creative should stay in your business's name, with your agency added as a partner. If an agency runs your ads from its own account, you can lose that history and data when you leave.
What you should own
- Your Meta ad account and Facebook page
- Your Meta pixel and the audiences built from it
- Your Google Ads account
- Your ad creative and landing pages
How agency access should work
On Meta, you add the agency to your Business Manager as a partner. On Google, you accept the agency's manager account invite. Either way, you can remove access any time and everything stays with you.
Red flags
- The agency wants to run ads from its own account.
- You cannot log in and see your own spend.
- A long-term contract before you have seen results.
- Reports that show activity but never cost per lead.
